Bangladesh seize tonnes of stolen raw rubber

Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) yesterday seized six tonnes of stolen raw rubber at Ghatail upazila in Tangail district and arrested four persons. Acting on a tip-off a Rab team led by its deputy assistant director Mohammad Faruque stopped a Dhaka-bound truck from Modhupur at Ghatail at around 4am and seized the raw rubber, Rab sources said. The seized raw rubber, worth about Tk 20 lakh, might have been stolen from Chandpur rubber garden in Modhupur, Rab sources said. The arrestees persons are Yousuf Ali of Amlitala in Modhupur; Nur Nabi of Jaler Shahar in Savar, Mohammad Motaleb of Arun Khola in Modhupur and truck driver MA Malek of Bhadraghat in Sirajganj. The arrestees persons and the seized rubber were handed over to Ghatail police. Chandpur Forest Beat Officer filed a case with Ghatail police station.
